I am in my own way. I’m sure some of you have done this before. Gotten so many things going on that nothing seems to get done. I am right there in the middle of it right now. I thought I would give a little bit of a status for those who pay attention and are watching the site.
The oldest project I have is a psychological thriller called Stealth Drive. I have to admit I may change the title but this story is very dear to me as it contains a significant amount of symbolism from a very intense dream I had once. A man loses his wife, a man finds peace in his classic car, then he watches as that car is slowly defiled in a high speed chase. I started writing this forever ago and in doing so I was enthralled by the character and the interactions I had created. Unfortunately I started it on paper and some of those pages may be lost forever after going through numerous moves. Still, I know in my head how this will work out and we’ll finish it as soon as I can.
One of my oldest projects right now is called Burial Ground. This project was the result of an interaction with a special friend. At the core of it is a young woman and her family who moved to the countryside, and they find that they’re home borders and Indian burial ground. The story is quite good if I don’t say so myself and I finished it as a short story, well a long short story, a long time ago. Since that time, I have been working on turning it into a novella and other projects have always taken the forefront. I need to finish this one.
99 Dreams is in pieces. A series of stories coming together as part of a global whole was an interesting idea for me. Although the story at the core is a love story about a shy man and a not so shy a woman it becomes a lesson in how to live and to love as the main character goes through dream after dream teaching him how to see the world differently. One of my favorite chapters is between the man and the woman but instead of their corporal form they are both made of smoke and dancing as they dissipate in the wind. It is very intense in many ways.
14 Stairs is a nonfiction work dedicated to documenting my journey into heart valve surgery and the subsequent recovery from that surgery. The title comes from the fact that my first day home I tried to climb the stairs from my office to the upper area and had to stop three times on stairs I normally ran in bounds. I have begun writing this and have a good core, but it took away from other projects for obvious reasons. One of the more fun areas of this is the hallucination I had while in the hospital and my reaction to that hallucination.
I have several Slices that are in very different states. Among those are A Slice of Fantasy, A Slice of Happiness, A Slice of Mystery, A Slice of Tomorrow, and A Bigger Slice of Fear. As I write short stories or novellas I add to each of these and every one of them is very close to a size necessary to publish. I have no ETA but this continues to be a work that I put time into at least once a week.
A Year in the Storm is a series of writings in which I interact with James Nave and Allegra Houston and a group of fantastic people focused on writing. This is a group I meet with almost weekly that always turns out a unique short story or poem. I have published many of these in my own book of poetry.
Challenging Times is a hardcore action story built around an apocalyptic series of events that causes issues to people, places, and things. I find myself setting this aside as I also have a second project that is even older covering a similar story.
See Luna Love is a children’s book about my last German shepherd and the depth of her heart when she was a puppy has she engaged with my children. Although the book will not be as large as many that I write it will contain pictures from the past turned into sketches. I expect it to be a relatively fantastic bit of fun as Luna was an intense and impressive dog.
She covers the story of a young dragon with a little different twist. Dragons in my book are like cicadas with a very long gestation cycle and the females awaken first with passed knowledge and understanding as they begin to set up a world where they will rule for 10,000 years. The story revolves around the relationship between one of the first females and a young woman trying to explain the world she has awoken in and attempting to come to terms with the changes that are about to happen with hundreds of thousands of Dragons soon to arise.
Trust is a nonfiction book I began writing after interacting with some unique individuals who believed that the words “trust but verify” were positive approaches to managing people. In this book I outlined several things that happened and my interactions that were often eye opening as people try to manage people by putting them down or trying to discredit them. This has some surprising outcomes and in several situations I was calm and passive during interactions so that I could understand the depth of dysfunction. I also cover the different types of trust including the best, trust completely, to the worst, don’t trust and vilify. Although no names are used in this book and the situation span a significant number of years and different positions and interactions with large and small companies, the outcome is the same. Readers will walk away thinking about their levels of trust in work and home life.
The Masterson Files, has seven additional books started with one that could be completed before October 2nd. Yes I do need to focus as this series has been very successful and has a number of fans. (Even though I got a lot of letters on the last book and the outcome, oops)
To my shame, Morgan is finished, but I am not yet ready to call it complete. I will spend some time working with it even though it is far overdue and makes me sad. This chapter of The Eternal Forever is all from the point of view of Morgan, who is quite the antagonist.
The Wife Helper is a fictional story about a man who loves his wife beyond belief only to watch her slowly deteriorate. He stands by her without question even as the young nurse tries to tempt him and push him a different direction. This story is filled with twists and turns that will keep the readers on edge the entire time.
Making IT Work covers the core of technology and how it can function properly using strategies that have been proven to work. Written for either an executive or an IT professional I hope this book gives insight to people in the IT field and allows them to carry forward into the exciting adventure that I have chosen.
The Chair is a Horror Story surrounding a small girl who falls in love with a chair at a yard sale. That chair was made of bayou wood and an interesting spirit is trapped inside. From a very fresh perspective this story is based on an old Night Stalker episode with Darren McGavin and finds an innocent intensity mixed with a chaotic neutral entity that becomes something else
The rest of the stories and works I have started are in a folder called “to be done” and there are a lot of them. I’ll keep working on it all until I finish or until I am finished. Whichever comes first.
